Career and skills development
An excellent start to our new Scholarship
A small group of Year 9 students from different schools came together for our first workshops on communication and collaboration. They acted out emotions, read body language and argued for a new Olympic sport. Monthly one-on-one Career Coaching sessions are also under way.
The Scholarship runs from Year 9 to Year 12, adding study skills training and career sampling with industry professionals.
It's how we react or solve the problem that matters.Vee, 14
The students you help support
Meet Arnold and Tay
Arnold, in Year 5, lives with his single father and was diagnosed with ADHD in 2021. With regular tutoring he improved a full grade in Art and Mandarin and joined the school band. His tutor calls him "a smart, interesting, creative person".
Tay, in Year 7, has been supported since Kindergarten and has had tutoring since Year 1. He plays drums in the school band, received a Merit Award for dance, and now catches the bus to high school on his own.
The tutorial support has helped me improve my grades, confidence in the classroom, fluency and answering arithmetic questions.Arnold
Updates from past students
The ongoing benefits of support
Ra left her family farm to study Commerce while drought and illness hit home. She went on to a Juris Doctor, a clerkship at a top law firm and now works as a paralegal with a leading publisher. Emi, supported from Year 12, completed a Commerce degree in Human Resources and loves her job.
Sammy wanted to be a vet from the age of eight. Supported through all six years of her degree, she now works at the clinic where she did a school traineeship at 16.
You guys came into my life at a point where I didn't know how I was going to put food on the table, afford accommodation and still be able to attend Uni.Sammy
