Strong Women, Strong Futures brings life-changing care and empowerment to Western Sydney
NSW Women’s Week 2026
Women and girls across Western Sydney will access free eye care, dental treatment and empowerment workshops as part of Strong Women, Strong Futures, a powerful NSW Women’s Week initiative supporting those rebuilding their lives.
A Start in Life will join Mobileyes & Dental Foundation to deliver three major community events from Monday 2 March to Saturday 7 March, reaching up to 400 women and girls across Liverpool, Blacktown and Regents Park.
Strong Women, Strong Futures combines free mobile eye and dental clinics with leadership, wellbeing and resilience workshops, ensuring women and their children have the health, confidence and support needed to move forward.
Among the services provided are free eye testing, glasses where needed, dental assessments, teeth cleaning and fluoride treatments. These are delivered alongside workshops focused on mental wellbeing, nutrition, leadership, women’s health and building strong futures.
CEO of A Start in Life, Kathleen Donohoe, will speak at all three events, highlighting the critical link between health, education and opportunity.
“At A Start in Life, we see every day how access to health, education and support can transform a young person’s future,” says Kathleen Donohoe.
“Strong Women, Strong Futures is about restoring dignity, strengthening families and ensuring women and girls have the foundation they need to thrive. When women are supported, entire communities rise.”
According to Mobileyes & Dental Foundation Director and Co-Founder, Dr Andrea Eliastam, many of the women accessing these clinics are working, parenting and actively rebuilding their lives, yet fall through the cracks of existing health systems.
“Every week we meet women who are doing everything they can after violence but cannot afford glasses for their children or basic dental care for themselves. These are not handouts. This is about dignity, safety and the ability to participate fully in life.”
These events shine a light on a growing group of women who are working, parenting and rebuilding their lives, yet face significant barriers to accessing essential healthcare.
“At its heart, this initiative is about equity and empowerment,” says Kathleen Donohoe. “By bringing care directly into communities, we are removing barriers and creating pathways for women and girls to participate fully in education, work and life.”
Delivered during NSW Women’s Week, Strong Women, Strong Futures aligns with a statewide focus on improving women’s health, wellbeing and economic participation.
Each event will bring together healthcare professionals, community leaders and support organisations to deliver care in safe, accessible and empowering environments.
