We are structured in the way we support children, drawing on over 87 years of experience to ensure that the funds provided go directly to the children who need it.

It’s about going beyond just uniforms, text books, stationery and basic educational tools. It’s about breakfast before school, having food in their lunch box, good health, being able to join in school activities and excursions and having a bat for cricket or glasses to read.

It’s about rounded, educated, happy young Australians getting the best opportunities for A Start in Life.

We recognise and nurture the unique needs of each of the young Australians we assist and so have created three programs catering specifically to their individual educational needs.

  • Compass Youth Education – helping students from pre-school to tertiary
  • Barinya – supporting Indigenous young Australians
  • Talent Sprout – ensuring our brightest and most talented kids reach their full potential

Our staff travel far and wide to identify children in need of our help and we are assisted through many community referrals to ensure that we find as many young Australians as possible needing help from A Start in Life. We stay in regular contact and monitor their progress as they move through their educational years.
