The “lucky country” isn’t so lucky for some. It’s unthinkable to imagine that over 500,000 young Australians live in poverty. We have thousands of mums and dads and grandparents who miss meals to pay for school uniforms and textbooks and who have no choice other than to send their little ones off to school without breakfast or a packed lunch.

Many young Australians are victims of family tragedy like the death of a parent or both parents. Many are being raised by their pensioner grandparents. Many were recently in stable homes and are now the victims of financial struggle and unemployment or years of continuous drought.
